Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff stated “There is no public cloud infrastructure provider that is more sophisticated or has more robust enterprise capabilities for supporting the needs of our growing global customer base”. This clearly proves that their next step is to start growing their the global customer base. This works to their advantage as they don’t have to physically create data warehouses which would deem to be an expensive investment, especially in the countries that has data sovereignty laws. Also, since AWS already has an established setup, they can easily scale their affordable services to Salesforce customers all over the world. Looking at Gartner report: Salesforce is the leading CRM software provider in the world in 2015. Their major competitors Oracle and SAP total lesser combined revenue than Saleforce. Once they get on board with AWS, the numbers are definitely set to rise as they could compete better with Oracle and Microsoft. Even though Microsoft and Saleforce are chummy as they have plenty of ongoing tie-ups to mutually benefit from each other, they are still competitors in the CRM space.
